Sain täna lõpuks Eddie Cochraini korralikult alla laetud ja kuulasin teda parajasti, kui minu kõrvu kostus sõna Buddy. Vaatasin, siis, et mis lauluga on tegu. Laulu pealkiri on "Three stars". See laul tehti 4h pärast ametlikku teadet 3 kuninga surmast. Ja laulu salvestas linti Eddie Cochran.

Räägiks nüüd natuke Eddiest endast.
Raymond Edward "Eddie" Cochran on üks 1950-ndate ja varaste 60-ndate rock'n'rolli tugevaid mõjutajaid. Ta on mänginud filmides "The girl can't help it" (1956) ja "Untamed youth" (1957). Tema kuulsaimateks lugudeks on "Summertime blues" (seda on kindlasti peaaegu kõik kuulnud), "C'mon everybody", "Somethin' else", "My Way", "Weekend","Teenage Heaven"' "Sitting in the Balcony"' "Three Stars", "Nervous Breakdown".
Nüüd tuleb kõige iroonilisem osa.
16. aprill 1960 suri Eddie, olles UK-s tuuril. Ta sattus autoõnnetusse, lennates läbi tuuleklaasi, kui takso, milles ta oli, sõitis vastu laternaposti. Eddie suri haiglas peavigastustesse. Autos olid veel laulukirjutaja Sharon Steeley ja Gene Vincent, kes said vigastada. Vincenti vigastused lühendasid tema karjääri. Ka Vincent oli laulja (kellest ma olen isegi kuulnud midagi). See juhtus natuke rohkem kui aasta pärast seda, kui Eddie oli välja lasknud laulu, mis oli pühendatud kolmele surnud tähele. Eddie ise sai nüüd siis neljandaks täheks.
Cochran on mõjutanud selliste artistide/bändide muusikat, nagu The Clash,The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Van Halen, Tom Petty, Rod Stewart, Humble Pie, UFO (band), T. Rex, The Stray Cats, Brian Setzer, Cliff Richard, The Who, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Blue Cheer, Led Zeppelin, The White Stripes, The Sex Pistols, Rush, Buck Owens, Tiger Army, Dion, Simple Minds, Guitar Wolf, Paul McCartney, Alan Jackson, Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, Keith Richards & The X-Pensive Winos, ja Jimi Hendrix on tema lugusid kaverdanud. The Who Pete Townshendi mõjutas väga tugevasti Cochraini kitarrimängimise stiil.
